Government watchdog C.Wayne Taylor questions legality of the Food Truck Court

C.Wayne Taylor, local blogger/gadfly and resident of the Monument Avenue Park neighborhood near Staples Mill, has been dropping emails on City Hall questioning the legality of the recent Food Truck Court gatherings at the Virginia Historical Society.

The Food Truck Court returns tonight 6-9PM at the Virginia Historical Society on Boulevard (now with 11 vendors).

Lincoln-signed copy of the Thirteenth Amendment on display at the Virginia Historical Society

In conjunction with Richmond’s citywide Civil War & Emancipation Day activities, the Virginia Historical Society will display (for one weekend only!) an original congressional copy of the Thirteenth Amendment Resolution that ended slavery in the United States.

The Virginia Historical Society will be hosting RVA’s largest Food Truck Court, a gathering of several mobile catering vendors, for two weeks in April starting tonight from 6-9PM. Participating food trucks will offer gourmet chef inspired food, specialty beverages, and desserts.

VHS hosting fixture sale on Wednesday

The Virginia Historical Society (VHS) is hosting a fixture sale of museum display cases and exhibition furniture on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Items used to house objects in collection storage and showcase pieces in past VHS exhibitions will be for sale at up to 90% off fabrication prices.

Good news from the VHS: Last year the Virginia Historical Society made the history museum and research library more accessible to visitors by offering free admission. This year we are expanding our accessibility by opening on Mondays.
